How do you get your message out in a lightning-fast digital world where goldfish have longer attention spans than the average person? We’ll share how we grabbed and held our audience through podcasts that showcase the groundbreaking engineering research at Oregon State University. Podcasts are personal and convenient storytelling vehicles that have proven highly versatile and effective for creating interest and building loyalty—outcomes that are increasingly challenging to reach through print media alone. The popularity of podcasts such as Radiolab, This American Life, the TED Radio Hour and others attests to their power to move people. We’ll let you in on the conception, development, production, marketing, and early results of our foray into podcasting and candidly discuss what worked and what we flushed in order to give other institutions a head start into this exciting medium.

Participants will leave with an understanding of Ohio University’s strategies and a roadmap to implement these initiatives in their own work.
